Halloween
By IwantU.com editors with Aphrodite
We want you to know the real story behind this holiday. Why do we actually celebrate it and why there are some other people who do not!
The influences present on this holiday come from many different cultures and has been celebrated for thousands of years, facing modifications due the adaptation and the new generations, holidays such as Christians holidays of all Saints and all the Souls Days had contribute to our popular “Halloween”.
The Celts had many gods and their favorite god was the sun itself because he was the one who made earth beautiful and the crops grow. This nature inspired them to celebrate the New Year on November and they had sort of a Festival which was the prelude for “the season of darkness and cold”.

The festival of November the 1st was a costume parade where the village people used skins and heads of their animals. This would be the first Halloween known.
By the Roman’s invasion the Pomona Day became a holiday celebrated in honor of their goddess of fruits and gardens. After a few years both ceremonies became one major holiday.

Time passed and the costumes mixed and the date changed till October the 31st. The Hallow´s Eve became Hallowe´en and finally Halloween.
